Unique Team Building and Group Activities Santa Barbara Offers

Unique Team Building and Group Activities Santa Barbara Offers

Visit Santa Barbara invited Felici Events to have a conversation with local hotel sales teams and share ways to get groups to interact – either on-site at the hotels or out in the community, highlighting what we offer as a unique service and product in order to help work that messaging into their value proposition for holding the meeting in Santa Barbara - BEYOND THE BALLROOM.

What we are hearing for meeting planning post-pandemic is people need a “Why” to leave home and travel for meetings.  Offsite meetings can’t just be about sitting in a conference room watching a PowerPoint, teams can just as easily sit at home and do that via Zoom.  Team Building events bring value and excitement to meetings while giving attendees the chance to bond with co-workers, interact with senior leaders, and embrace company culture.

Immersion and experiential is our niche and we, at Felici Events, know that not all groups have time or budget to leave the hotel grounds so it would help to know if you can bring programming on-site.

Cannabis at Events - an Educational Panel for Wedding and Event Professionals

Cannabis at Events - an Educational Panel for Wedding and Event Professionals

My wedding blog hosted an informative workshop for wedding professionals and the ever-curious question of how will our industry be able to safely, ethically and successfully maneuver our client requests of having cannabis or marijuana served at the event?

The afternoon consisted of a panel discussion about cannabis’ impact on the private and wedding event industry and education on what is permitted, required and expected so we can balance client and wedding couples’ requests as well as government mandates.

As legalization of recreational marijuana maneuvers thru California., cannabis-infused weddings (from bud bouquets to cannabis cakes) are gaining popularity and creating a buzz within the wedding industry. Respectively, due to the increase in planning cannabis infused weddings, new businesses are being established because of the emergence of the two things legal marijuana and celebrations / events.

Pre-panel discussion, guests mingled and nibbled at an innovative munchies bar created by Creative Services Catering. Goodies included maple glazed bacon, ginormous chocolate chip cookies, mac n’ cheese, popcorn, candy, chips and Twizzlers.

The Panel consisted of:

  • GrassFed - event "budbar" producers of cannabis themed pop up events and facilitators

  • Tina Fanucchi-Frontado, owner of KopSun - a cannabis education, information and health resource company for women

  • Liz Rogan of Liz Rogan and Associates - cannabis liaison, educator and advocate

Topics of discussion included:

  • What is happening in California vs the rest of the country

  • How we are seeing marijuana represented culturally now vs ten years ago…5 years ago

  • How is cannabis impacting events?

  • Tools for those who are unaware of state legalities and restrictions

  • Navigating the legalities and logistic of cannabis at special events

  • Ways to integrate cannabis into a couple’s special day

  • Incorporating marijuana and leaves into wedding florals, bouquets, decor and centerpieces

  • Infusing food with weed, how to legally serve it and the permitting needed

The number one take-away and piece of advice we received from our panel is:

GET EDUCATED!

There are a multitude of resources available and many people aren’t aware of how to maneuver and responsibly incorporate using herbs in their celebrations.

Thank you to the Team that Helped make this day special:

A 60th Anniversary Corporate Celebration

A 60th Anniversary Corporate Celebration

We could not be more excited to work with repeat clients to help them celebrate their special occasion! When The Towbes Group, an award-winning real estate development and construction company, asked us to help them with their 60th year in business, Felici Events 'hit the bricks' to plan an 'architectural' themed "Roast of Michael Towbes", the guest of honor and founder of The Towbes Group Inc. (TGI).

We designed the invitation for the affair to personify the company's real estate development of Santa Barbara and beyond, which included a rooftop image of the American Riviera along with the company's blue, red and gold 60th logo atop clean print and easy to read fonts.

The 180 person event was held at the ballroom of Fess Parker Resort and Spa, an often used venue location for Chamber events, and the company's own yearly winter party. Felici Events'  transformed the ballroom into a modern space.

For dinner and the roast portion of the evening, the screen projected the same rooftop image used for the invitation, creating a sensation that one was suspended in air overlooking the beautiful Santa Barbara Red Rooftops. Dining elements included white glass top rectangular tables showcasing blueprints, paired with gold infinity chairs. The table top centerpieces, a combination of blue hydrangeas and red roses housed in gold painted logo Tonka trucks and constructions hats, were a huge hit with guests, and represented the colors of the company's 60th Anniversary logo.

The gold rented bars also demonstrated the history and accomplishments of TGI, showcasing a map of projects the company has developed. It was important for Felici Events to create some visual interest around the vast ballroom, so we looked to create some interesting lighting and visual elements.  SPARK Creative Events strategically placed interesting wall pattern projectionsto enhance the goldish-taupe ballroom walls. A 20' LED screen created a WOW factor showing drone footage of TGI's projects and developments during cocktail hour.  The stage housed sleek and clean white leather chairs and .

Guests were treated with personalized M & M's Mr. Towbes favorite treat, and finally wowed with a delicious serving of fresh lemon sorbet adorned with a delicious The Towbes Group logo home-made cookie by Lele Patisserie. What a sweet ending to a lovely and memorable evening for this Santa Barbara based company.

#PistolsAndLace a Roaring 20's Party for Event Pros

#PistolsAndLace a Roaring 20's Party for Event Pros

In January Felici Events had the opportunity to showcase their talents to fellow event professionals by chairing TSE Connects in Long Beach.  TSE, or The Special Event is a yearly conference held in alternate coasts of the country, and this particular evening kicks off the week of the conference and event professionals from around the world get to see each other, reconnect and network.  Our flapper theme came easy with The Federal Bar as the location.  The speak-easy layout and decor of the venue lends itself to a sign of the times, about a century ago.

To enhance the evening of the space, Zohe Felici of Felici Events created experiences that would take guests back to the Roaring 20's an era of celebration and liberation.

Starting the party before guests enter is a high priority for Felici Events, therefore the celebration started on Pine Street, were Lucid Life Entertainment stationed a flapper in a champagne glass greeting attendees and attracting by-passers to show that The Party of the Year is Here! Town and Country Event Rentals provided the lighting to ensure the space had soft lighting.

Once inside, live entertainment for the evening on the main stage and included Lady Leah & The Dukes of Swing provided by The Replicas Music, who performed sensational tunes of the festive swing era -- as well as swingin' familiar re-stylized tunes of today's modern genres. Between sets, DASH Entertainment had DJ Nahchey dropping electro-swing sets with live sax. There were also themed props photo booth shenanigans by The Cheeky Booth.

The talented Lou Serrano, a Roaming Magician set things on fire, hid wedding rings and created unbelievable illusions that amazed, entertained, and delighted  guests. A Snake Charmer also roamed around the festivities for photo ops and tantalizing experiences of guests. In the speak easy lounge, guests enjoyed DJ tunes by DJ Oliver, of Dash Entertainment.

Because it would be a tight space for the 300+ guests expected, Felici Events looked to the Champagne Creative Group who revealed their innovative rolling food carts with flappers to pass food around all night.  That's right, no need to get up, food will come to you, in class!!

The Federal Bar provided a full bar to guests, and Felici Events created fun signature drinks: The Hot Hooch and The Harlem Sunset.  Roaming Cigarette Girls handed out bags of gifts and themed 1920 candies including Charleston Chews, Squirrel Nut Zippers and Mary Janes.

A huge thank you to the event committee members Heather Walters, The Art of Parties and Helsey Lubiano of CHHC Events, to help make this event a huge success! Also to the team at Rayce PR who promoted and PR'd the event as well as covered the details of it.

Enjoy the photos of the evening captured by Paul Ruhmor, of The Good Photographer.

Party Interactive Entertainment Idea - #Madlibs

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and this past week-end, Felici Events has had the honor of experiencing just that! One of our clients hired us to produce her milestone 50th birthday celebration.  She came to Zohe's Godfather themed birthday, which took place in October at the Santa Barbara Club, and absolutely loved the party, especially Zohe's take on Mad Libs.  Zohe is a fan of having something unique and getting guests to interact rather than filling out a boring old guest book.

We made some mob-libs and had guests fill out cards rather than signing a guest book.  We don't know who had more fun that night, Zohe's friends and loved ones who wrote in the mad lib cards, or Zohe hooting and hollering in laugher reading them after the party.

This idea is perfect for any party, a mitzvah, birthday, baby shower, bridal shower, corporate mixer or event a rehearsal dinner or wedding.

We called them Ann Libs (Ann is the client's name), and asked our graphics guru (Mitra from foreverbird.com) create a cartoon from Ann's picture

We found some fancy schmancy paper from our local Paper-Source, and were able to print the Ann Libs at Felici Headquarters.

They look great on the tables, each guest got one at their place settings, rolled up nice and neat with pens nearby.  It made for a talking point and incorporated interactive entertainment for the evening.
